TJ Jagodowski has been performing, teaching and directing in Chicago’s improv theaters for 30 years, working at Second City, IO and the Annoyance. He has toured the U.S. and Europe with his performing partner, David Pasquesi, as one half of TJ and Dave. TJ has also had small roles in TV and Film including Chicago Fire, Work In Progress, Prison Break, Get Hard and Stranger Than Fiction. The Workshop can be called Making Things Easier. The workshop will focus on three primary exercises; doing honest scenework, using emotion as a starting point and allowing one piece of information to quickly get you to point of view. These practices should reveal that an improviser, as they are, is enough to do this work. As well as show how words are the least important part of improvising, that initiations don’t need to be a first sentence and how knowing one thing can give you grounded, informed starts and provide your partner with all they need to know to do the same. We want to stay in discovery and not invention. Reaction and not control.
