Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Chico Pinheiro is considered a leading figure in and outside the Brazilian music scene as a guitarist, composer and arranger. He began playing the guitar when he was 6, and by the age of 14, he was working as a studio session guitarist collaborating with a wide range of artists throughout Brazil. He has released eight albums as a leader, appeared as a sideman on countless others, and has been nominated twice for the American Grammy Awards. He has collaborated with artists such as Joe Lovano, Luciana Souza, Herbie Hancock, John Patitucci, Bob Mintzer, Dave Grusin, Ron Carter, João Donato, Johnny Alf, Placido Domingo, Dianne Reeves and many others.
